Employee involvement with alcohol or drugs can be extremely disruptive and harmful to the workplace. It can adversely affect the quality of work and the performance of employees, pose serious safety and health risks to the user, co-workers and the public, and have a negative impact on work efficiency and productivity.
R J & C is concerned that employees are in a condition to perform their duties safely and efficiently, in the interests of fellow workers and the public, as well as, themselves. It is the purpose of this policy to eliminate substance abuse and its effects in the workplace. R J & C is also required to comply with Federal regulations pertaining to the attainment and maintenance of a drug-free workplace. These requirements are outlined under the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
Accordingly, R J & C has developed the following policy statement regarding substance abuse in the workplace. The unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession or use of a controlled substance or alcohol is prohibited in the R J & C workplace.
